Taiwan authorities awarded two US Missionaries Fr. Alan Doyle (80years old) and Sr.Mary Paul Watts (83years ) with its citizenship. The citizenship is given to them as a form of honoring the two missionaries for their immense contribution to Taiwan since ages. Fr.Doyle has been residing in Taiwan for 53 years and has been supporting the society there with his tremendous service to develop the Hoklo, Taiwan language for more than half century. He has helped the poor farmers to take up loans and also helped in solving the unemployed young people the country.
While Sr.Mary Paul Watts served the country, by her hospital St.Martin De Porris, of which she is the founder and the chairwoman. She has also founded two more medical facilities for the poor patients in the country. As reported by the ucanews, Father Alan Doyle while receiving the citizenship commented that, “ I am a genuine Taiwanese!”
The amendment to the law allowed these missionaries to receive the citizenship of Taiwan without losing their own nationality as an honor for their valuable contribution to the country all these years.
