Eparchy of Kalyan celebrated Vidyarambham on 9th June 2019, therein, the Catechism classes for the academic year 2019- 20 has commenced. The Pentecost Sunday was presided welcoming of the Holy Spirit by lighting  candles in churches. The parishes across Kalyan diocese held it as the first Sunday of catechism and offered before Holy Qurbana [Holy Mass]. Children are one of God’s greatest gifts. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.”Mt.19:14

‘Vidyarambham’ – initiation of education is a tradition that is followed in south of India. The children from age group of four years onwards are made to write the word “Isho” in Malayalam or “Jesus” in English on the plate of rice. This year Vidyarambham was conducted on the occasion of Pentecost Sunday. The prayers were devoted to invoke the blessings of the Holy Spirit upon all the little children entering the world of education. There was an oath taking ceremony for teachers and children starting the new academic year. A procession was conducted by the students and the newly appointed teachers before the mass. The intention prayers and offertory prayers were specially devoted for catechism teachers and students.
