Kochi: Major Archbishop Cardinal Mar George Alencherry of the Syro-Malabar Church, urged the farmers and the government to prepare for a comprehensive changes in agriculture to cope with the severe economic crisis of Covid 19 during his presentation of the Covid Survival Action Plan to the Syro-Malabar Church Synod by Catholic Congress Global Committee President, Adv. Biju.

Biju said the majority of the members of the community are in a state of severe financial crisis due to the collapse of agriculture and the consequences of Covid and the community wants a comprehensive program of relief and relief measures. He said that the Catholic Congress is implementing various programs to increase the production in the agricultural sector with special emphasis on the poor in the parish.

In each parish, there should be the formation of Covid Survival Management Committees chaired by the Vicar and the involvement of the experts and the various aspects of the action plan. In addition to the Parish Management Committee, the committees of the Forane level, diocesan and global level have come together to formulate comprehensive schemes to improve the agriculture sector, boost the confidence of the farmers and make the farm profitable. A joint committee of leaders from different countries was formed to brand and export agricultural products.
