WASHINGTON, DC – The White House has asked the bishop’s opinion about the reopening of the Holy Mass with public participation in the lockdown following Covid-19. The government has asked the opinion of four Catholic bishops in recent days. The decision to open the shrines will be taken by the state government only after considering their views. Guidelines for performing the rituals in the church in a safe manner are expected to be issued soon. Earlier, the White House Domestic Policy Council and the Centers for Disease Control held a conference call with the bishops of the three states over several days.

Many dioceses have taken the decision to offer public worship in accordance with the rules and regulations. The diocese of La Cruces was the first to make the decision. But the diocese has not been able to bring it into effect as the adverse situation continues. Bishops say the Trump administration’s response to Christian leadership on the issue is welcomed. The action of the United States is most noticeable when many countries make unilateral decisions regarding church services.
