Young Indian Catholics are preparing themselves to participate in the seventh Asian Youth Day which is going to be held at Yogyakarta in Indonesia from August 2- 6. Eighty-four young Indian Catholics are participating in the event where they will be joining 3000 young people from other 26 Asian countries in the Indonesian city for the summit which is themed “ Joyful Asian Youth: Living the Gospel in Multicultural Asia.”
As reported by ucanindia.in, Fr. Deepak K.J. Thomas, executive secretary of the Council for Youth of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India, said “Interacting with other youths about their role in the church and ways of working and their exchanging about these experiences, will be helpful for their lives.” Further, he added, “Delegation members come from different regions of India and are were chosen by their dioceses.”
The Asian Youth Day will include a three-day live-in program in 11 dioceses and it is a much awaited day for all the Catholic Churches in India.
