The 7th Asian Youth Day bid Adieu to the energetic and enthusiastic young minds of Asia this year, by leaving in them an unerasable imprint of the wonderful joyous experiences they have had from 2nd– 6th August, 2017, in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. On 6th August, 2017, when the AYD entered the final day of the event,it was marked by a grand celebration of the Eucharist at the Yogyakarta Air Force Academy Field holding “Living and Sharing the Joy of the Gospel” as the theme for the day, with an aim to teach the young faithful to give the joy of the gospel to others in the encounter with God in everyday life.
Asian Youth Day 7 has become a wonderful piece of history on the journey of young Catholics in Asia. Msgr.Ignatius Suharyo in the closing of his homily remarked that “I hope this activity encourages all of us to become more active and faithful in following the Gospel so that our lives can be filled with happiness and faith.”
At the peak event, was also carried out the handover ceremony of AYD cross to the next AYD host. The 8th Asian Youth Day is going to be held in India in 2020. This gives more joy to the young Indian Catholics and also is an encouragement for the youth of India to come together to work for the Lord Almighty with unity and love in the hearts, to build up the Church in the will of God.
