Bengaluru: The state government is planning to open a shrine in Karnataka from June 1. Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding permission to open shrines, temples and other places of worship from June 1. Yeddyurappa said he had received many permits for this and was looking forward to it. The sanctuary will open on June 1 if approved, he said.

Shrines have been closed since the end of March as part of the Kovid Lockdown. Restrictions on public transport, shops, liquor stores and transport were lifted, but restrictions on places of worship have not been changed.
