LOMBARDIA – Bishop Angelo Moreshi, a member of the Congregational Church in Ethiopia, has died after being infected with Covid 19. He was the first bishop to die of Covid 19. He was pronounced dead at Brescia in the Italian city of Lombardy yesterday, reports Catholic News Agency. He had been in the hospital for a few days. A native of Italy, he served in Ethiopia since 1991. He was appointed bishop in January 2010.

He sought to reach out to the poor and the young, to take them up into the faith and become a favorite among the believers. The Catholic community of Ethiopia called him Abba (Father). The Ethiopian Bishop’s Conference expressed grief over the bishop’s sudden death. The committee said in a statement that it was praying for the faithful, clergy, saints and relatives who were going through the pain. Bishop Angelo was in charge of the missionary territory inhabited by 24,000 Catholics.
