The Catholics in Kerala expressed their disappointments and oppositions against the increasing vandalisms and demolitions of the crosses in the state, especially the local Catholics from Neyyatinkara Diocese staged a protest on August 20, 2017, against the demolition of a cross that stood at a pilgrim site in a forested area near Vithura, a village in India’s southern Kerala state.

As reported by ucanews.com, Fr. Christudas, the diocese’s vicar-general remarked that “The protest would continue until a new cross is installed.” Some officials of the Diocese stated that “A wooden cross was erected on a hill in the area about 60 years ago and the demolished concrete cross was erected in its place a year ago.”

The 8-meter tall concrete cross was destroyed on August 18, 2017, but it is not yet known who was responsible for this evil crime, the Catholics from Neyyatinkara Diocese had installed the cross.
