The Young Catholics in Mindanao, Philippines, gives hope to the homeless children by teaching them to read and write on Sunday Afternoons. A group of youngsters and college professionals gather every Sundays in the city’s park to teach the under privileged children who are commonly known as sea gypsies from Badjao because they live close to the sea. The main aim of this activity is to provide the children with education as well and to notify them their significant role in the development of the country.

As reported by ucanews.com, Megan Villegas, a 27-year old nurse and also the group’s spokeswoman emphasized that “Our group’s desire is to help the poor children and we were inspired by the life of Jesus Christ, who gave his life for others.” Further, she continued, “Our group members do not impose their faith on the children and the volunteers are guided by Christian values of caring, sharing and loving others.”

The group is in search of more volunteers who would volunteer them in this divine project and they also believe that this project would help the children to hope for a brighter future which is necessary for the development of the country.
