His Eminence Cardinal Mar George Alencherry while addressing the gathering during the Episcopal ordination ceremony of Mar John Nellikkunnel, Bishop of Idukki Diocese, conveyed the support of the Church for those in need. Mar Alencherry was the chief- celebrant for the ordination ceremony that took place on 5th April 2018 at St. George Cathedral, Vazhathope.
As reported by liefdayonline.com, Mar Alencherry remarked that “Your sorrow is the sorrow of the Church. I feel proud to see the common men working for the development of the society regardless of their political interests. The needs of the people in Idukki are the needs of the Church.”
Mar Alencherry appreciated and undertook the farewell ceremony of Mar Mathew Anikuzhikkattil, the former Bishop of Idukki Diocese, for all his efforts in bringing up the diocese so far.
