Kozhikode: Records of DGP Loknath Bahra’s claim that no complaints about Love Jihad have been received in Kerala are false. The complaint by the father of the girl in Kozhikode and the response of the DGP’s office to the allegation that the girl’s father had given her nude pictures and threatened to convert her has been proved wrong. His father had clearly stated in the complaint that ‘the circumstances themselves show that the Kozhikode case is part of Love Jihad’. The DGP also replied to the girl’s father that Parati had sent it to subordinates for further action.
The victim and her father, who had lodged a complaint with the Kozhikode city police commissioner about three months ago, have also pointed out that the jihad is love. In addition, the girl has lodged complaints at Kozhikode Medical College and Nadakkavu police stations. The DGP says that such complaints have not been filed in the presence of the police and the judiciary.
The Syro-Malabar Church’s resolution against Love Jihad and the pastoral letter of Cardinal Mar George Alencherry in this regard came to light recently. They claimed that Love Jihad was fabricated. DGP Loknath Behra said that when he came to attend the Kerala Literature Festival in Kozhikode, Love Jihad was not reported in Kerala and no such complaint was received. The DGP’s statement was in response to questions from journalists.
“Your complaint has been forwarded to the following officer for further action as per Docket No. 191204. The actions of the state police chief are known from the web portal cmo.kerala.gov.in using the docket number of the complaint. ” He said that the complaint has been forwarded to the North Central UG and he has forwarded it to the Kozhikode District Police Chief (City). Further information received from the DGP’s office has been forwarded to the Commissioner. Complaints read out to the DGP are sent to subordinates.
Mohammed Jasim, 19, from Karuvannur Kuttikandi house near Naduvannur, Kozhikode, has been remanded for ninety days. The girl’s father complained to the DGP that the police and the public prosecutor had agreed to bail the accused and that the accused had rejected his bail application because he had made his own prosecutor.
After counseling, the girl is now under the care of her father. Her father has complained that her co-accused, who tried to abduct her daughter, threatened to advertise her nude films if she did not convert, have not yet been arrested. Love Jihad is being pushed by the police who are not afraid to provide immediate justice to their terrified family.
