Indore: The Indore Christian media Forum (ICMF) organized a workshop on Mobile Journalism (Mojou) for the youth of the diocese. The workshop will be held for four days which began on October 09, 2019, at the Satprakashan Sanchar Kendra, Indore. The ICMF intended to popularise the creative use of technology amongst the youth to create a change in society. Around 20 youth from various parts of Bihar and Madhya Pradesh participated in the workshop.
The inaugural dais was honored by chief guests from different walks of life. They included: Fr. Johny D’Souza, the SVD Provincial Superior of India Central and the main speaker, Mr. Shravan Garg, Senior journalist, Sr. Ganga Rawat, the freelance journalist, Fr. John Paul SVD, the Director of Satprakashan Sanchar Kendra Indore and Mr. Rajnish Kumar, a representative from the participants.
Addressing the participants, the main speaker Mr. Shravan Garg said, “We need people in the society who can raise their voice against the fake news and false propaganda and who can stand for the truth.” He also mentioned his years in journalism and the experience that came about with it. Another chief guest, Fr. Johny said, “The mobile journalism is the need of the time. The youth who have a device in their hands can do thousands of things that can be useful for the society and not just using it for chats and browsing the videos.” The first day the participants were taught the basic elements of news and news reporting by Sr. Ganga Rawat and then the participants were asked to do the practical by taking on various issues. The practical session on how to write was taken by Dr. John Paul SVD.
The workshop is conducted by the Satyaprakash an Sanchar Kendra in association with the world organization if catholic communicators- SIGNIS MP Region. The seminar is a certificate program and would end on 12th October 2019.
