The good deeds that man does by putting God aside make him a self-centered person. Gradually he begins to want the world to acknowledge his good deeds and to be grateful to others. This leads him to pride and neglect from those who received help.
There was no need for the incarnation of Christ if a man could obtain the kingdom of heaven by virtue of his good works. The most important knowledge a man needs in this world is that only through Jesus Christ can a man obtain the kingdom of heaven. Christ’s love is the source of all our qualifications before God. It is the gift of God that unites us to Christ in that active love. This gift of grace affirms the worthiness of our actions before God and men. The saints were always convinced that their credentials were only a gift.
“After the exile on earth, I hope to come and enjoy you in the homeland, but I do not want to collect the qualifications for heaven. I only want to work for your love. All our righteousness is blasphemed before your eyes, and I hope therefore to be covered with your righteousness and to love you forever with your love ”(Saint Teresa of Lizu).
Without Christ, we can do nothing. God asks us to do good works on earth. But it is not good work that sets God apart. God requires man to believe in and worship him by sending his only-begotten Savior, Jesus, to earth. Thus, an infinite amount of love can begin to flow to a person who is close to Christ. In this way, we will be filled with the love of Christ and extend our love to others by doing good to others. Thus they will see our good deeds and glorify our Father in heaven. Thus only through the cooperation of man with God’s gift can one obtain the kingdom of heaven.
