Santhom Youth Movement – Syro Malabar Youth Movement (SMYM), the official youth movement of the Santhom Mission India will be inaugurated on 9th July 2017 at St. Alphonsa Syro Malabar Church, Kukatpally in Hyderabad under the directorship of Fr. Ansilo Elanjiparambil. It aims to bring together all the Syro Malabar Catholic Youth staying outside the proper territory and diocese, in India in Jesus Christ.
The Santhom Mission celebrates this year as the Year of Youth ,the main aim of Santhom Youth Movement is to notify the youth of the Catholic Churches about their significance and also to unite them under the wings of the Church in Christ. Santhom Youth movement is spread into total 7 regions in India. “Awake – Arise – Alive” is the slogan given to the movement, focused in embracing each Youth in the Catholic Churches, not only in Hyderabad but all over in India. Fr. Ansilo remarked that “Santhom Youth Movement will work to encourage today’s youth to focus on the present and to have a great hope in their future.”
The inauguration will commence with the Holy Mass, after which a Bike Rally would be conducted from 1km away from the Church, in order to spread the message of unity and togetherness followed by a flash mob by the youth and the launching of Youth Logo and oath taking ceremony by the youth members. Lijo Anto, the President of Santhom Youth Movement highlighted that “Santhom Youth Movement will try to incorporate all the youth and build up a proper structure to empower them.”
