Madrid: The Catholic Church’s leadership in the country has decided to give Spanish teenagers two to three years to get married, with the aim of reducing divorce rates. Until recently, those who were married had been advised to practice only 20 hours of marriage training. On Thursday, the Spanish bishops’ committee announced the training on ‘The Path’. The training is based on twelve topics such as relationship, loyalty and sexuality.
It is estimated that young women will be able to prepare for the wedding call by adopting the new method. The training will also explain the detrimental effects of pornography and videos. Monsignor Mario Izeta, head of the subcommittee of the Metropolitan Committee for the Protection of Families and Lives, said he understood the need for more basic training from the couple’s contacts.
He questioned whether being a clergyman would require seven years of training, but only 20 hours of training for a family life. The move comes in light of the shocking report that 57.2 marriages in 2017 resulted in divorce in Spain. It has been observed that the policies implemented by the Socialist government have made divorce rates easier, making divorce easier.
