U.S House passed a bill to fight against the evil of human trafficking in the country, which was ideally supported by Bishop Joe Vasquez of Austin, chairman of the U.S Bishop’s migration committee, who proclaimed the bill as an important step to stop human slavery and His Excellency Bishop Vasquez also assured that the bill would protect victims as it provides important service provisions that will aid victims.
As reported by the Catholic News Agency, Paul Davis Ryan, House Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, conveyed that, “Human Trafficking is one of the fastest- growing crimes in the world.” Further, he added, “Trafficking is a national problem and requires a national effort to solve it.”
His Grace Bishop Vasquez reminded the Congress members through his letter that, “The Catholic Church has a longstanding role in the prevention of human trafficking and the rehabilitation of victims.”, as reported by Catholic News Agency. His Excellency also assured the authorities to dedicate all his support to eradicate the evil of human trafficking from the country.
