KAMPALA: A Muslim woman who converted to Christianity from Islam in the East African country of Uganda was burned by her father with boiling oil. Twenty-four-year-old Rahema Kyomuhendo, who suffered severe burns to his neck, leg and back, is now being treated at Regional Referral Hospital in Umbale. The Mormons Star-News, a secular site, brought to the outside world the cruelty suffered by Kyomuhendo in the name of faith.
The incident took place when the girl and her father, Sheikh Hussain Baaruhanka Hussain, were staying at a relative’s house in Naouyo village in Umbale district. According to the Morning Star News, Kyomuhendo was a regular listener of Christian radio. The events start from what Kyomuhendo calls his father’s Catholic faithful friend. While lying in the hospital bed, Kyomuhendo revealed that they had told him about Christ and the way to salvation and that he had accepted Christ as his Savior.
According to Kyomuhendo, the father had shouted at each other to share his faith, and after he had been brutally beaten, his body was burned with boiling oil. She was rushed to the hospital by a neighbor who heard her scream. The Morning Star reports that Sheikh Hussein Baruhanka had told his sister that he would kill his daughter on the eleventh day of Ramadan fasting. Kyomuhendo is just one of the millions of Christians who have been brutally persecuted in Uganda. Violence is rampant throughout the country.
